Microneedling in Grand Island, NE
Acne scars, fine lines, and uneven skin tone can stick around long after you've tried every cream on the shelf. Microneedling works with your skin's own healing process. If you'd like, you can add PRP from your own blood to give that process more to work with.
I do this treatment in my office in Grand Island.
What microneedling can help with
Microneedling is a treatment for the skin concerns that tend to bother people most:
-
Acne scars and other scarring
-
Fine lines and wrinkles
-
Uneven tone and variations in pigmentation
-
Rough or uneven texture
It's most often done on the face, but it can also be done on the neck, hands, and other areas of the body.

How microneedling works
Microneedling uses very fine needles to make tiny, controlled punctures in the skin. Those small injuries signal the surrounding tissue to start repairing itself. The skin clears out old scar tissue, grows new blood vessels that bring nutrients to the area, and lays down fresh collagen.
The result comes from your own body doing the work, which is why changes build gradually rather than all at once.
Adding PRP to your microneedling
PRP is an option, not a requirement. Microneedling works on its own, and many people choose it without PRP.
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It comes from a small sample of your own blood, spun down to concentrate the platelets and the growth factors they carry. Applied during microneedling, those growth factors can support the same healing response the needles start. Research suggests PRP modestly improves how the skin responds to microneedling.
Because PRP comes from your own blood, it lowers the chance of a reaction.
If you'd like to know more about how PRP is made and how it compares with PRF, I explain it on my PRP page.
What to expect at your appointment
Numbing first. I apply a numbing cream with lidocaine to the treatment area and let it work for 20 to 30 minutes.
If you add PRP. While the cream works, I draw a small amount of blood (about 2060 mL) and spin it in a centrifuge to separate the PRP.
The treatment itself. Once your skin is prepped, I perform the microneedling. If you have added PRP, I apply it during the treatment.
Total time. Plan on 45 minutes to an 60-90 minuteshour from start to finish.
Afterward. Wait until the next day to wash the treated area. If you have added PRP, leave it on your skin until then.
When you'll see a difference
Most people notice a glow to their skin within the first few days. Collagen takes longer, so the fuller change shows up over about four to six weeks. Depending on your skin, the condition being treated, and how you heal, you may need one to four treatments. We'll talk about what's realistic for you before you start.

Other skin and hair treatments
Microneedling isn't the only option for scars and skin changes. I also offer scar revision for scars that need a more direct approach, and PRP for hair loss, which uses the same platelet-rich plasma from your own blood. You'll find both, with prices, on my services and procedures page.
Common questions
Does microneedling hurt?
I numb the area with a lidocaine cream for 20 to 30 minutes before starting. Most of the discomfort people expect is managed by that numbing step.
How many treatments will I need?
It depends on your skin, what we're treating, and how you heal. Many people need between one and four treatments.
Is microneedling with PRP better than microneedling alone?
Microneedling works on its own, and plenty of people choose it without PRP. PRP adds growth factors from your own blood to the healing process that microneedling starts. Research suggests it modestly improves results. Whether it's worth adding for your skin is something we can decide together.
