WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Medical weight loss in Grand Island, NE

You have cut back, kept moving, and done what you were told. Maybe the weight came off for a while and then came back. Maybe it barely moved at all. That is not a failure of willpower, and it is not your fault.

I am a board-certified obesity medicine physician. I treat weight loss the way I treat any long-term health condition: with time, attention, and a plan built for the person in front of me.

Why weight can be so hard to lose and keep off

Obesity is a chronic disease, not a character flaw. Many things can affect your weight, including hormones, changes in your metabolism, certain medications, and the way your brain regulates hunger and fullness. Your individual genetics and changes in genetic expression over time are a major factor. Life experiences can play a part too.

That is why the same diet can work for one person and not for another, and why weight that comes off often tries to come back. It is also why I start by looking for what is driving your weight before deciding what to do about it.

What board certification in obesity medicine means for you

Beyond my training in family medicine, I have completed additional training focused on how obesity develops and how to treat it, and I excelled on a separate board exam focused on obesity medicine.

For you, that means your weight care comes from a doctor who has studied it specifically and who also looks at the rest of your health at the same time: your blood pressure, your blood sugar, your medications, mental health, and your history.

How the weight management program works

At your first visit, I go over your health history, your weight history, your current medications, and what you have already tried. From there, I use evidence-informed screening to look for the factors that may be affecting your weight.

Then I build a plan with you. It can include nutrition guidance, physical activity recommendations, medications, peptides, hormone replacement, and regular check-ins, all fitted to your lifestyle, your culture, your schedule, and what you can realistically keep doing.

Follow-up visits let me adjust the plan as you go, because what works in the first month is not always what works six months in. Between visits, you can reach me by phone, video, text, or email.

Where medication fits

Medication is one tool, not a requirement. For some people, prescription weight loss medications, such as GLP-1 medications, can be a helpful part of the plan. For others, they are not the right fit.

If medication makes sense for you, I will walk you through the options, what to expect, and what it costs before you decide anything. You will never be pushed onto medication or a supplement.

What the weight management program costs

The weight management program is $200 a month for 6 months. You can see this alongside my other prices on my services and pricing page.

Common questions

Do I need to be a member to join the weight management program?

With your weight management program, all primary care related needs are included. You are welcome to continue using your primary care physician and/or my services. Whatever fits your situation best.

Is this a diet program?

No. There is no single diet you have to follow. Your plan is built around the foods you eat, your culture, your schedule, and what fits your life.

Do I have to take medication?

No. Medication is an option for some people, not a requirement. If it might help you, I will talk it through with you, and the decision is yours.

How often will I see you?

I recommend at least monthly check ins, but do not make any requirements. The service is there if you want it but if things are working well, life gets busy, or you don’t need an appointment, you are under no obligations.

I have lost weight before and gained it back. Is this still for me?

Yes. Weight regain is common, and it often has physical causes, not just a lack of effort. Understanding what happened last time is part of building a lasting plan that fits this time.

When you are ready to talk about your weight

You do not have to have it all figured out before you come in. If you want a doctor who will take the time to understand what is going on with your weight, I would be glad to meet you.
